Narcros sketch - 2/17/14

Narcros was going to appear in the comic where Luca and Laiten were running through a cave, but I never got to reach that point. 

BIO TIME:

Like Mumblers, Narcros prefer to live in dark, moist caves. Their eyes are hyper sensitive and capable of seeing movement in pitch black darkness. Unlike the Mumblers, Narcros can't make any vocal sounds. They can go for months without food due to their slow metabolism and inactivity. Narcros will sit still and wait for days for any signs of prey. Once it sees someone/thing, it quietly follows and watches. Narcros will continue watching until they feel they can take down the prey with little effort. Once it gains confidence, the Narcros grabs its victim from behind, bites into it, and proceeds to choke it with its tail. (The Narcros tail is the only muscular part of the body and is surprisingly strong) Narcros will remain latched on until the victim's struggling begins to subside. It then releases its prey and waits for its breathing to relax. 

The Narcros are named after there powerfully narcotic saliva. They do not eat dead things, but prefer their prey alive. So, they bite their victims and wait for them to enter a deep sleep. When a Narcros feeds, it can not chew it's food, so it vomits acid onto its prey and uses its rough tongue to scrap away the tissue. The acid does not put prey to sleep, but it does cause the area to be completely numb. The Narcros will slowly go back and forth between biting and eating its prey, and avoiding vital places until the end. By this process, a Narcros can feed for several days on the living body.

Luca hates these about as much as he hates Mumblers. Maybe more.

Yep. Another deadly creature to add to the list. Luckily, Narcros never leave their caves, not even at night.
