A Lonely Winter

Hey everyone~!
I'm not dead, just been busy. (And avoiding people...) >.>

Recall the WIP sketch of this? Yeah, it was over a month ago. I had started it right away, but due to its complexity, I ended up side-lining it to finish several other colored pics. But it's finally finished!! I worked on it all day, and didn't even take a shower!

I really pushed myself on this one. I learned how to create custom brushes, moistness in eyes, and extensive shadowing. (And for once, the lighting isn't coming in the same generic direction as EVERYTHING ELSE) I filled my 20 layer limit twice and had to merge layers several times to keep an extra layer available. I created the brush that made the leaves. And looked up a tutorial for eyes. I've been a busy bee!



Because it would take an insanely huge (and confusing) explanation to how Luca got to this point, I'm just going to tell what's happening at the moment.

This is Luca's first winter without his parents/guardians. They were killed when he was five. He's in a hollowed out tree, filled with leaves to help hold warmth. The gem-like orb is the only possession he has from his patents. (Where he got the blanket is a different story, but it did belong to a girl once)
